Udayan Choksi leads the Customs & International Trade and Indirect Tax practice of the firm. He is a chartered accountant and tax lawyer with more than two decades of experience. Over the years, he has advised MNCs and India’s top businesses on tax advisory, litigation, risk management, and compliance. He has also advised CEOs, CFOs, and GCs, across M&A transactions, tax litigations and tax investigations.
His specializes in customs and trade remedial measures, Foreign Trade Policy including export controls, and GST and pre-GST indirect taxes. Udayan also strategizes tax litigations and represents clients in advance rulings and tax disputes before Tribunals and Courts. He is also involved in tax policy advocacy and has contributed to government representations.
Udayan also serves as an Independent Director on the boards of public and private companies. He has also been a member of the Indirect Tax Committees at esteemed institutions namely like the IMC Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society and Chamber of Tax Consultants.
Udayan has been recognized as an ‘Indirect Tax Leader’ in India by International Tax Review consistently since 2015, as ‘Highly Regarded’ in Indirect Tax by World Tax (the comprehensive guide to the world’s leading tax firms), and as a ‘Key Lawyer’ for WTO and International Trade by Legal 500.
